Because the polyester substrate is a multi-layer
knit, it thoroughly absorbs the single-strand polyurethane resin. This
ensures that only the substrate is coated with resin.
The polyester non-woven layer provides a resin
barrier so it is possible to handle the substrate.
This layer, which is next to the foam, is water
repellent so the open-cell foam applied next to the skin remains dry.
By allowing an even airflow around the limb, the
open-cell foam ensures patient comfort. It also has the added benefit
of hugging the limb to prevent splint migration - keeping the splint in
place.
Rhena cast splint system is available as rolls or
pre-cut splints. The pre-cut single splints come in packs of five.
